How do you want 2008 to be different from 2007? What will you change or do differently?
Submitted by Becca-Pink.
I don't try to "change" anything because it's a new year. It all runs in together. The only change I'd truly like to see for the future is an elected official WORTHY of the votes and someone running on more than half a brain cell due to lack of oxygen because they have their heads so far up someone's @ss.
My log home was built in 2003, in North Port Florida. Two years later, I bought four and a half acres in South Carolina where my husband and I plan to build another log home overlooking a lake. My husband builds log homes for a living and we relocated to North Carolina, temporarily.
Log homes are one of the most energy efficient homes you can own. Ours is Southern Pine, the strongest pine.
North Port is a beautiful, growing city. It is the home of the famous Warm Mineral Springs, known for it's healing qualities. People from around the world visit every year to enjoy the beauty and serenity as well as the richness of the mineral spring's attributes.
A lot of love went into the construction and design of our home. Originally we had planned to always live there, but the Carolinas tugged at our hearts, with the beautiful mountain views, wild life and change of seasons as well. Although I miss Florida, I'm loving the change.
The second picture is the great room facing the double french doors that lead into the entrance of the house. The floors are hardwood throughout.
As you enter you face the fireplace, with the custom log mantle and the entrance into the kitchen on either side. Behind the fireplace is another entrance from the car port situated underneath the house.
This is my kitchen. I had fun designing this, with a path on the floor made of ceramic tiles to give a "fun" effect, pine cabinets with designer handles of spoons, knives and forks. Granite counters, and travertine backsplash add to the warmth and decor along with french doors leading out to a screened in porch overlooking the back yard.
We have been able to observe wild life from our enclosed back porch. Every season we see young Deer running along the path of the canal which leads to a small lake on both ends. We have seen an Otter that lives in our vicinity running along the path also.
Our favorite has always been the Blue Heron who is almost always stalking his prey.
This is the Master Bedroom. It was always so wonderful to wake in the morning to the view of greenery of the trees and fragrance of Jasmine growing outside my windows.
My favorite room in the house is the Master Bath with Pink Marble, Roman Shower and sunken, jaccuzzi tub. What a way to relax at the end of the day!
